Surrogacy law services

NGA leafletWe are the UK's leading surrogacy lawyers, with unique experience in the practical realities of both UK and international surrogacy.  In Parliament, the former shadow Secretary of State for Health described us as "the leading lawyers in this field who have conducted more surrogacy cases and seen through more parental orders than any other lawyers in this country".  We are known in the High Court as one of only a tiny number of lawyers who truly understand surrogacy, and we are consulted by the government and international policymakers on surrogacy law and practice.

We have helped hundreds of parents through surrogacy over many years, including acting in the very first international surrogacy case to be ratified by the English court Re X and Y (2008) and subsequent leading decisions Re L (2010) and Re IJ (2011).  We have also helped to make the UK's surrogacy laws, winning changes to the law on nationality, embryo storage and gay parenting.

This is not an area of law we dabble in.  Unlike other surrogacy solicitors (including some very reputable London lawyers) we have dealt with surrogacy on a daily basis over many years, and not just as a recent addition to a wider conventional  practice. Our long and significant experience means that we can deal efficiently, not only with complex cases, but also with straightforward situations in which we routinely give cost-efficient advice for a fixed fee.

Wherever you are on your UK or international surrogacy journey, and wherever in the world or the UK you are based, contact us if you would like us to:

  • Advise on international surrogacy arrangements, including parenthood, entry clearance and citizenship issues. We have experience dealing with many international jurisdictions including various US states, the Ukraine, India and South Africa, and we have established links with assisted-reproduction law experts across the globe.
  • Advise on UK surrogacy arrangements.
  • Help you with your parental order application. We provide legal representation in more complex cases, and give guidance in more straightforward cases to enable you to represent yourselves.
  • Provide legal representation in disputes in relation to surrogacy (including disputes between surrogates and intended parents, relationship breakdown between intended parents, and disputes with social services and other UK authorities).
  • Draft specialist wills.

English law prevents us from negotiating surrogacy arrangements. It is illegal for us (or for any other solicitor in the UK) to write a surrogacy agreement.  However, we can advise on how the law applies to your situation, and help with the legal processes required to secure your family's position.
