Donor-conceived people: finding out whether you are related to a proposed partner

peas in a pod

The law gives you a right to find out whether you are genetically related to someone you intend to marry, register a civil partnership with or enter into an intimate physical relationship with, once you reach the age of 16. You can make an application to the HFEA to ask whether, if you are donor conceived, your partner was conceived using the same donor.

The law requires the application to be made by you both jointly.
